Owls & Aliens, The Chemicals (Chico)

Owls & Aliens brings the hot sauce to rock ‘n roll, taking inspiration from the genres most quintessential styles. When the music of owls & aliens hits listeners earholes, layers of classic rock, heavy metal, punk rock, alternative rock, post-hardcore, and everything in between come crashing together creating a beautiful amalgamation of sounds. The brotherhood formed between the five members is caused by each of their unfettered need to play, write and listen to music - despite coming from quite different backgrounds.

The band emerged from the depths of southern Oregon in a small, scenic town called Klamath Falls at the beginning of 2019. After a year of writing songs and hosting local shows in their own garage, Owls & Aliens undeterred persistence to unveil their music to the world drove the band to record their debut album amidst a pandemic. Their first two singles, Mercy and You Can’t Save Everyone have been unleashed thus far, including a music video for the latter released in August of 2021, with the rest of the album set to be revealed later this year.

Brace yourself for The Chemicals –

A garage pop concoction of loud riffs, catchy hooks, and a rock & roll sound that will have you moving all night.

The Chemicals trace back to when kindred spirits, Joe Stone (Drums) and Christian Crandall (Lead Guitar), first ignited their musical partnership over a decade ago in Chico, CA. Little did they know that this fortuitous collaboration would lay the groundwork for what would become The Chemicals. Their journey reached new heights when they teamed up with Jordan Wiley (Bass) in a subsequent project. Completing the final piece of the puzzle, Jesse Russell (Vocals, Keys, Guitar) joined forces in early 2023. It was then that The Chemicals came into being, united by a shared passion for crafting infectious rhythms and captivating melodies.

Making their grand entrance into the music scene of Northern California in early 2023, the band quickly gained traction and began performing throughout California, soon after embarking on their first supporting tour in the summer of 2023. Hailing from Chico, Santa Cruz, and the Bay Area, the band converges in Oakland for rehearsals.

In late 2023, The Chemicals released their debut live EP,  “Live From APT 1”, showcasing the relentless drive and signature sound they developed over a crazy year of musical exploration.

2023 ended on a high note, connecting with engineer & sonic wizard Chris Keene (Cutters Cathedral) to craft their debut studio record, set for release in Spring 2024. The band will soon be hitting the road in support of their release with a series of headlining shows throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Davila 666, Kotter, Vagabond

Pop melodies crash headfirst into full-on garage punk in the songs of this raucous rock band from Puerto Rico.

Describing themselves as like "Menudo on drugs," San Juan, Puerto Rico's Davila 666 combine Stooges-like garage rock fire with the occasional sugary pop melody. The seven -- not six, surprisingly -- Davilas include singer/tambourine player Sir Charles, multi-instrumentalist AJ, guitarists/vocalists Miss Davila and Johnny Otis, drummer/guitarist/vocalist San Pablo, percussionist/vocalist Panda, and guitarist/drummer/vocalist Gigi. Their theatrical live show -- which includes themes, props, costumes, and dancers -- won them fans in the States when they toured with the Black Lips and the King Khan & BBQ Show. Davila 666's self-titled U.S. debut was released in summer 2008 via In the Red Records. After a somewhat quiet year in 2009, the band came back strong in 2010, releasing an EP on Rob's House Records and singles on Norton (covering the Rolling Stones' "She's a Rainbow") and Vice (a split with the Dirtbombs). In 2011 the band's second album, Tan Bajo, hit the shelves; the group also cut a live EP for Jack White's Third Man Records while touring the United States in support. In 2014, Davila 666 collected several out of print singles and EPs into the compilation album Poco Años, Muchos Daños.

Igor & The Red Elvises

8pm $10 Adv. / $12 Door

Igor Yuzov was born in Germany, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak, however, led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible, Igor left Russia for America with his “Folk’n’Roll” band Limpopo and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan. In 1993, Limpopo won Ed McMahon’s Star Search and their popularity began to blossom. In 1995, Igor dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start playing rock’n’roll. Igor and his Russian friends became Red Elvises and gave street performances on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. As their crowds grew larger, the City of Santa Monica ordered them to discontinue their street performances. Evolving over the years, Igor’s music has been labeled “Siberian Surf Rock” which contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance. Over the past 20 years, Red Elvises have constantly toured all over the world with occasional breaks to record new music and to participate in film and television projects.

As an independent band, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums, two live albums, a live concert DVD, and a Greatest Hits compilation. Some of their most notable film contributions include music and or performances in “Six String Samurai”, “Mail Order Bride”, “Armageddon”, “Skippy”,  “Melrose Place”, “Fastlane”, “Penn and Teller’s Sin City Extravaganza”, “VH-1 Behind the Music”, and “MTV”. Red Elvises have performed for large festivals, private parties, and played on massive stages such as 2005’s Live 8 Benefit Concert. No matter where they perform, Igor & Red Elvises always bring the party with them.

Clementine Was Right, Fluddless, Farseek

Clementine Was Right is the songwriting project of poets Mike Young and Gion Davis. Chronicling years of uprooting—from Northern California to New England, Alaska to New Mexico—the music gallops and sways through hook-smeared bootgaze and western emo.

After releasing three books of poems and stories in the early 2010s (with praise from VICE, BOMB, The Believer), Mike started Clementine Was Right in 2018 as a return to songwriting.

The band is based in Denver and features an orchard of collaborators from the Sierra Nevadas to the Ozarks, complicating and queering the lineage of "country music" with yokel fuzz.

Every Farseek song is like a prayer. Cameron Harrison calls out for deliverance, but he isn’t entreating help from an unseen God; on the band’s new LP Who Can Start the Fires?, he’s talking to me and you. Despite that, it’s the most confident the band’s ever sounded.

The project has existed as a vessel for Harrison’s songwriting since 2014, in one form or another. On Who Can Start the Fires?, they’ve embraced their status as a collective in flux based in the southeastern US; they’ve also begun to hone in on the southern part of their identity, with Tailer Ransom contributing banjo to nearly half the songs on the record. But their evolution exists outside of rigid genre constraints; songs like “Crying” take the breakneck pace of punk and fill in the spaces with the bleating of a trumpet and waves of keys, where “Clouded by Hubris” is a dreamy, washed-out spin on classic country. It’s a far cry from the emo-pop Farseek made their bones on.

Lyrically, though, Harrison’s sights haven’t changed so much. Just as we’re still dealing with the same ills currently that we were in 2014, he’s still railing against them; on “Doom Scroll,” he tackles the ways the internet can unknowingly radicalize you, on “Keeping Me Down” the rise of overt white supremacy, and on “Pride” the subtler forms it can take—your neighbor’s blue lives matter sign, say. But it’s on songs like “Part of the Problem” where Farseek’s vision congeals. The song is about “unchecked biases and gut impulses to immediately defend the status quo,” about the ways we can perpetuate systems of oppression and dehumanization without thinking. But that means it’s also a song about the choice we have to challenge those beliefs in ourselves, in others. The optimistic vision that underpins those tracks is echoed in the album’s more traditional love songs, such as “Declaration of Affection” or “New Short Haircut,” and even its less traditional ones, like “Crying,” about the way Harrison’s cat Stormy would cry every time he left for work. It’s a tender song, and like “Declaration,” it’s one grounded in the understanding that love is a give-and-take, a necessarily shared experience. That’s ultimately the vision Who Can Start the Fires? imparts on the listener. Anyone can start a fire, but the only way to put it out is together.

Bliss Foxx, Grimiss, Jewelry Exchange, Moonbear

Bliss Foxx is cheeky yet sincere; denoting an amalgamation of influences that span distinct decades with primarily punk roots. At first blush, early 90s alternative rock and riot grrrl era elements are clear, but you’ll also hear influences of the “loudQuietloud” era with hints power pop.
Raw fierce flippant powerfully catchy lyrics emote an overall mood that's flirtatious as much as it wry.

Grimiss is an electro-rock duo from Portland/Salem

Jewelry Exchange is a Portland, Oregon based band that’s probably describable as post-punk. Better described as a mix of kraturock, post-rock, emo and noise rock, the boys count on influences like CAN, Slint, and Portishead. You could compare them contemporaries like Protomartyr, Shame, and Black Country, New Road.

Moonbear is an Alt-rock/Shoegaze band from Eugene Oregon
